Dear friends, this note is simply my effort to record KH A. Mustofa Bisri’s tweet about Ramadhan. And I’m trying my best to translate it to English, with a bunch of hope that it can bring some meaning to all of you.

I’m seeking for permission and forgiving to Gus Mus and not to forget I’m also would like to show my gratitude.

RAMADHAN ADVICE FOR A. MUSTOFA BISRI
Written by: A. MUSTOFA BISRI

Mustafa, be honest to yourself. Why do you always say that Ramadhan is a month of forgiveness?

Is it just because you try to imitate the Prophet, or is it because your sins and excessive hopes that move your tongue do say so?

Mustafa, Ramadhan is special for Him, special for you.

Mustafa, Ramadhan is His month that He gave you, so dedicate it solely on Him.

Purify yourself for Him. Pray for him. Fast for Him. Fight yourself as an observance to Him.

Purify your genitals. Fast!

Purify your hands. Fast!

Purify your mouth. Fast!

Purify your nose. Fast!

Purify your face. Fast!

Purify your eyes. Fast!

Purify your ears. Fast!

Purify your hair. Fast!

Purify your head. Fast!

Purify your feet. Fast!

Purify your body. Fast!

Purify your heart. Purify your mind. Fast! Purify yourself.

Mustofa, it’s not hungry stomach and dry throats that will remind you of your feebleness and soften your sense.

It turns out that an empty stomach and a dry throat was only an impatient or forced watchman or opportunity usurper.

Perhaps it’s a little more patience than the eyes, hands, feet and genitals.

More resilient in fasting.

But you are the only one who knew for what and for whom the bridled passion is.

Make your genital fast to satisfy The Compliance.

Make your hands fast to receive The Blessing.

Make your mouth fast to taste The Commandment.

Make your nose fast to inhale The Fragrance.

Make your face fast to come before The Beauty.

Make your eyes fast to envisage The Light.

Make your ears fast to catch The Sonority.

Make your hair fast to absorb The Fondling.

Make your head fast to squab The Prostration.

Make your feet fast to tread The Sirath.

Make your body fast to impregnate The Grace.

Make your heart fast to enjoy The Essence.

Make your mind fast to believe The Truth.

Make yourself fast to live The Life.

No! Make your desires fast only to His-Presence!

Mustofa, as you say Ramadhan is a holy month, are you imitating the Prophet or have you experienced it holiness through your sanctity?

But aren’t you still have procrastinate in getting rid of your envy, greed, self-asserting, self-praising, arrogance, and other waste that clogged in your sewer heart?

Mustofa, this is a good month for hard-work in cleansing your heart.

Mustofa, this is a good month to knock down the idols within yourself which openly and secretly you have adored.

Or will you miss this other opportunity like past Ramadhans?

Rembang, Sha'ban 1413
